THE LAST DITCH

I’ve tried. I really have. I have taken a break from the blogs and most conventional news media since Google Reader stopped working. I thought I might feel better about the world. I aspired to the blissful ignorance if not the shameful indifference in which most of my fellow citizens wallow. I just can’t hack it.

If I am going to worry about the British body politic and the future of Western civilisation I need at least to be well informed. So I have fired up a new RSS reader and added a few of my old reads from memory. What should I be reading, dear reader, in order to equip myself to blog intelligently?

The previous comment worked so I’ll try again.
So pleased you’re back. I added you to my favorites and checked often in case the Digg RSS reader was flaky.
    So here we go:
Raedwald, Longrider, Legiron, The Financial Crimes, Automonous Mind (but you’ll already have that). And you’ll already have Anna Raccoon.
    More to follow later.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I decided to rebuild my reading list from scratch as I was in something of an informational rut, so don’t be reluctant to suggest “the obvious”. I am prepared to have a go at following any reader’s blog for a trial month so don’t be shy about recommending your own.

Since you have made the very considerable leap to try to understand the “ordinary American”, and since the issues of political representation, race relations, economic suicide and other non-controversial subjects seem to be current in Britain, Canada and the USA to the discomfort of very many electors. Allow me to introduce:
Small Dead Animals-a Canadian Blog that encompass’s a fair amount of anti-government, anti-global warming/windmill/electric vehicle invective. Your readers may like the complete disdain in which most politicians are held.
Protein Wisdom-US based jewish author, well versed on the Bill of rights and constitution. Obama/Democrat-hater (which is fine with me). Well thought out positions, not just invective.
Zero hedge-ultimately a financial blog with very interesting and readable analysis about the too-big-to-fail banks and government departments, useful commentary on government too.
The Diplomad-ex US diplomat, speaking freely after retirement.
Old Remus and the Woodpile report-eclectic collection of various opinions. Includes gun-rights and survivalist type thought, together with art analysis and photographic depictions of the US during the thirties.
Gerard Vanderleun-Seattle based blogger, snarky commentary and some really nice occasional feel-good items.
Stuff black people don’t like-sure to be controversial, basic thesis is civilization in the USA is being destroyed by the race hustlers and low infornmation voters. Only approach if you have an open mind.
There you go, there is plenty of bland blogging following the usual formulae, these blogs should make you think even if you disagree with their premise. Heavily US-centric ideas that your readers may not have been exposed to.

Well, I think you are likely already mostly equipped to blog intelligently. You have a brain and you really use it to think… at lest some of the time ^^ and that is more than most people.
The brain is very good for filtering out the “Garbage in” side of the equation ^
^ and making sure as little as possible sneaks through to come out.
These people are terribly corrupting of MSM fed minds ^_^ I expect you visited them already.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
