THE LAST DITCH

I spent the morning at two motor museums; the National Automotive and Truck Museum housed in the factory where Auburn, Cord and Duesenberg cars were made and – right next door in the former offices and showroom of the company – the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum. I thoroughly enjoyed both.

After a leisurely drive to Chicago, I am now sleeping under the roof of old friends from my days living in Poland. I shall stay here a couple of days, exploring this great city for the first time and then it’s on to the Great River Road.

That car from the other post and the “cool police car” are they the same model, or is it like how similar a Ford and a Chrysler of some models can be?
They almost look like a modern take on an old theme. From a batman movie or something. How big is the engine? It looks like it ought to be big enough to power a locomotive instead of a car.

They are indeed both 1930s Cords. Yes, they are very modern. I was struck with the model in one of my car porn books when I was a teenager and I loved it even better in the metal.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
