THE LAST DITCH

After an embarrassing day observing the antics of the raddled, vicious little creatures who scuttle around the debris of a society that made, long ago, the wrong choice, it's chilling to be reminded of what politics could have been.

Finally found time to watch it. Absolutely superb!
One of my first blog posts was on an article by Karl Hess, speechwriter for Goldwater, but I hadn’t realised that Reagan was involved. What a damning indictment of America that Johnson was chosen instead, and how different things might have been.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
