THE LAST DITCH
Sorry Tom, that’s not Scotland. It is at the junction of Hackney Road and Shoreditch High Street, London, E1 6JN. Google The Clerk’s House if you don’t believe me.

Judging by the boom mike over the funeral attendees looks like it’s a shoot for tv program. But why is the copper on a moped?

Golly. My Scottish friend who sent it over was being self-deprecating then. Now that I did not expect from a Scot! Sorry. I stand corrected.

This appeared a little time ago, and I think Sub Rosa, a Scots blogger, used it although correctly placing it in London. There is a puzzle, however, given the call out time for the clamping vehicle as well as any time elapsing before a Warden decided to act, surely any funeral service would be over before the hearse might be loaded onto a vehicle. In any case it is practise with most undertakers, especially in London, to leave men outside during a service.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.
Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.
He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that
“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
