THE LAST DITCH

Dizzy Thinks: Grow up you morons.

I tend to think Dizzy overrated, not least by himself. That may be because I met him once and was delighted to do so for a few seconds, until he uttered – all unprovoked – a sneering personal remark. One doesn't like to be small-minded, but it's hard to like a chap who so clearly dislikes oneself.

Nonetheless, I doff my hat in admiration to the linked post. I have nothing to add but "Hear! hear!"

So Dizzy had a dig at you Tom, or was he being self-deprecating?

“One should never let reality get in the way of correlation over causality,”
I guess not, it don’t seem to get in the way of so called medical “research” based on statistical links those who run the NHS are so fond of.
Don’t forget, tho Obama has brought a thawing the left in the UK, and I guess Europe, they have a deep streak of sniffy anti Americanism programmed into them ready to be trotted out bat the first sign of individualism.
as for political debate in the uk, it is unusual if it rises to the level of spoon feeding babies. It’s often simple and “impressionistic”.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
