THE LAST DITCH

Thank you

Top 20 Libertarian Blogs.

I would like to pretend I don't care but my readers have seen through me anyway. Thank you for your votes, which just kept the Last Ditch in the top ten. I am not surprised to slip a couple of places, given the arrival on the scene of the most excellent (if rather ripe) Old Holborn and the immodest (albeit with good cause) Boatang & Demetriou, both of whom I sincerely congratulate.

All in all, it's good to see so many excellent representatives of the libertarian point of view. Well done to all 20. How long before the word "libertarian" can be pronounced by mainstream broadcasters without gestures to avert the evil eye, I wonder?

PS: I ought also have mentioned highest new entry Obnoxio the Clown, another fine libertarian blogger you might not recommend to your maiden aunt. Apologies, sir. I commend him to all the broader-minded among you.

    Congratulations.
I voted for you, and Old Holborn, and our humble Devil whose writings I have grown to like after the initial shock.
But please keep your writing style different from theirs.
Thank you also for the tip to the Boatang & Demetriou blog, which I will now go and look at.

Thank you again. I pay the price in readership figures, but my style is my own. Much though I enjoy reading DK (he can be a superb writer on top form) I am no more likely to become a swear blogger than to vote Labour. As you can imagine, that is less likely than the formation of a porcine air force.

    Congrats.
Any idea why I can’t find your RSS feed? I’ve had terrible trouble with it over recent months with the feed going down. Now I can’t get one at all.

Congratulations Tom. Your “request” for votes worked it seems. 🙂
Ahah. I am not the only one who cannot get your RSS feed any more at google reader. Now I don’t feel so stupid.

I have checked the settings and they were indeed messed up. My apologies. I have reset them and all should be well shortly. In the meantime, you can add the feed manually if you wish. It’s to be found at http://feeds.feedburner.com/typepad/ZUpe

Yes, I owe you an apology JMB. You told me about the problem ages ago and I forgot to investigate. I am so sorry. Until it’s fixed, you can find the feed and add it manually at http://feeds.feedburner.com/typepad/ZUpe

Congratulations, Tom, on making the top twenty.
I must confess to not having visited before, but when I saw you on top of me (if you’ll pardon the expression) I came along. I’ll be back frequently.
I shall not take offence if you don’t wish to reciprocate, as CF is yet another sweary blogger, albeit one who doesn’t write as well as the Devil, and doesn’t dress up as often as OH.
Following your well-made point to Iain Dale, that we’d have preferred links to a text list, I’ve posted the full list of the top 20, with links here, as voted for by the admiring millions.
I was pleased to see that Iain – or one of his little helpers – has copied the list to the original blogpost, so readers can jump straight in. Every little helps…

Well done! I could have sworn I was at 10, but I am certainly at 11 now (making a nonsense of my post above). Never mind. I will settle for top 20. I have certainly added you to my blogroll and my Google Reader list and look forward to making your virtual acquaintance.

Excellent. Thanks for putting the list up here too.
The reason you (and I) slipped down a place was because Obnoxio the Clown was missed from the list (Total Politics hadn’t noticed he called himself a Libertarian) then added later.
I can’t recall who was at #20 originally, but they have my sympathy..

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
