THE LAST DITCH

FT.com / UK – Martin to resign as Speaker.

OafGood news, but not nearly enough. Now it's essential to disprove the pathetic Labour
spin that he's being used as a scapegoat. The best way is by metaphorically cutting the throats of all those who could have hoped to use him thus. How characteristic, by the way, that it is "unclear" whether his resignation is to take immediate effect. Could the man not communicate clearly just the once?

    It will not be immediate.

It was not far off immediate though. How to build pressure for an election now? I would love to see the rascals make their pitches while the peoples’ wrath is still hot…

He looks (and sounds) like a short sighted embarrassed 5 year old when he reads stuff.
You expected clear communication from him?

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
