THE LAST DITCH

Thanks to all who voted in my poll. It’s good of you to take an interest. The result is not as clear as in the Presidential elections in Russia, but we have a winner and although I didn’t vote for it myself, on reflection, I agree with your choice. I was going to call her Speranza (hope), but Vittoria (victory) seems a name of good omen.

I did not vote for either of those but I certainly like Vittoria better than Speranza and I think it a more positive name. In a way it was a victory that you got to order it since you had overcome the doubts of Mrs TP and to promise her all the trunk space as I recall to get it.
Why won’t this thing remember me? I’ll be forced to get a typepad account to go with my worpress and blogger ones.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
