THE LAST DITCH

Blogs of the week at the Last Ditch are rather like buses. Here a week can be an elastic concept. Be that as it may, "As a Dodo" is one of the best-written sites on the internet, and today’s post is an erudite and humorous classic.
Enjoy.

I can see he is a writer after your own heart, an excellent recommendation, he must surely be a professional writer.
I read your comment at Calum Carr’s post about his decision to stop blogging. It made me feel guilty about not visiting your site more often and commenting. I find it is such hard work to assiduously do the blogging rounds each day when there are so many other demands on my time, as well as writing a couple of posts today, which tend to be research based. I know it took me well over six months before I had regular comments, it doesn’t happen overnight.
A new blogger I can highly recommend is mens sana, a Cambridge hospital consultant who is also an excellent writer and has much to say about the dire state of the NHS. http://menssana.wordpress.com/
    Hope you are well.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
