Tom Paine is the nom de plume of a retired international lawyer who was formerly a partner in a City of London law firm’s offices in Warsaw, Moscow and Shanghai.
At various times he was managing partner in Poland and China and/or headed the global firm’s international real estate investment and finance practice. He spent almost 20 years abroad from 1992 to 2011.
He is a libertarian / classical liberal and as such pretty horrified by the authoritarian tendencies the British Establishment developed in his absence. He began to blog in response to the horrifying Prevention of Terrorism Act of 2005.
