THE LAST DITCH
The Last Ditch (Archives): The opening shot.
Congratulations to you Tom. A tome worth archiving for future generations, if as you say they can find it. Laughs. The wisdom of the world as I call the internet is a pretty crowded place and not always easy to navigate.
It’s been my pleasure to read it for almost all of those years, although we don’t always agree and I’ve been shot down in flames in the comment section of this blog on occasion. Raises her glass to another 15 years and wonders what the tone of it will be by then. Hopefully not still angry.

Oh I forgot to say that’s it’s also been my great pleasure to meet you through the pages of this blog and to form a strong if unusual friendship beyond it, even into meeting several times in real life and I still cherish the occasion when your Ferrari was parked in my driveway for a day or so. Such cachet it earned me with the neighbours!

As a long-time reader and enjoyer of your words of “wisdom”, may I be permitted to wish you a Happy Blogiversary and a Happy Birthday for next week.
Here’s to the next 15 years (Not that I’m likely to be around by then. If the wife and/or alcohol haven’t seen me off by then, the lunacy surrounding Covid-19 probably will have).

Congrats on the anniversary and looming birthday. I’d like to say it has been a pleasure reading your works and understanding your viewpoint. Hoping your posts picks up a little in the next few years as I don’t see our liberty being removed from the endangered list.
May you have many happy years blogging still.

Congratulations on your Blogiversary and best wishes for your upcoming Birthday.
I now exactly what you mean about retirement. Since I took early retirement nearly three years ago my blog posts have declined in number!

A mere newbie, compared to you! Given how we first met in Second Life you may be amused to know i am replying from an in-world browser on a yacht there. The safest place to socialise on my birthday.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.
Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.
He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that
“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
