Thanks for all the kind comments on my last post. To be clear, I have only given up political blogging. Having made my case ad nauseam for nine years, it's time to move on. I have begun to redesign the blog accordingly. I think I will need more radical change though to make room for larger photographs. Suggestions from web-savvy readers will be most welcome.

I am planning a journey to Vienna, Prague, Berlin and Warsaw this month. I will have my camera and my computer with me so hope to do a smaller version of the Great American Road Trip of 2013.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that
