THE LAST DITCH

Opinions have varied about my opening the blog to our statist contributor Mark. I am inclined to allow him a third post before recommending him to set up his own blog. However, I have enjoyed the debate his contributions have stimulated and am minded to repeat the experiment with others. If any reader is interested in a stint as "guest author", please email me by clicking the link in the sidebar and let me know what you want to write about. If you have friends or acquaintances with interesting views to express, please feel free to refer them here.

I reserve the right to edit for defamation and other legal issues for which I would be liable in my capacity as publisher.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
