THE LAST DITCH

BBC News – Question Time – Join the Question Time audience.

Follow the link to see what it takes to join the Question Time (#bbcqt) audience. Interesting questionnaire, eh? Maybe I should apply to be in the next London audience, suppress my principles and fill in the form dishonestly? What do you think? Which boxes should I tick (and what questions should I pretend I am going to ask) in order to get the chance to express a free market viewpoint behind enemy lines?

    Brilliant.
Some of the answers are obvious …
6: What is your opinion of the situation in Afghanistan?
A: Against [I’m guessing you don’t even need to lie about that one]
7: Are you pro-EU or sceptical?
    A: Pro-EU
8: If there were a General Election tomorrow, which political party would you be most likely to vote for?
    A: Green
[actually, I’m not so sure about this one; it seems like they always want a healthy Labour contingent]
11: Which of these groups do you consider yourself to belong to?
    A: Mixed Origin
12: Do you consider yourself to have any disabilities?
    A: Yes
I’m not sure which two issues would be best to list. Interested to hear what others think.
I actually think this ridiculous survey presents an opportunity. How about a Freedom of Information request to see aggregated answers for each episode (both for those who applied, and those who were accepted).

They have thought about that. That’s why the task is sub-contracted to a private company.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
