THE LAST DITCH

The Sun Says | The Sun |News|Sun Says.

_40067924_kinnocklongThe biggest political news for years is at risk of being lost in the firestorm over expenses. The Sun (of "It wos the Sun wot won it" fame) is urging its millions of readers to vote Conservative in the European elections. Having worked alongside Sun readers in the construction industry for a couple of years, I believe this is THE most politically-influential newspaper in the world. It swings the votes of millions of political illiterates barely capable of forming an opinion. I saw its famous front page in the hands of a voter at the polling station that long-ago morning, and I knew the cretinous gasbag Kinnock was done for.

I don't know what deal Blair and Brown did with Rupert Murdoch to have his essentially-conservative newspapers support the New Labour Project, but it has clearly expired. This is not a straw in the wind. This is a whole bloody haystack.

Just thought I would commend you on your blogging of late. You seem to echo my thoughts and contempt for the ruling class with a lucid, concise and passionate sincerity.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
