THE LAST DITCH

This gem of a post from the British blogosphere's favourite leftist academic made me chuckle. Of course, one understands how disappointing it must be to a man whose Wikipedia entry reports that "…In a long academic career, he has contributed substantially to the analysis of the works of Karl Marx …"

Haven't you heard of Karl Marx?

No. Should I have?

It was historically inevitable that the workers of the world would unite in throwing off the ideological chains of the man whose ideas killed them in millions and impoverished them by hundreds of millions. Who would have dared hope, however, that it would begin to happen quite so soon?

One response to “Well-deserved obscurity?”

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
