Jonathan Ross's Bafta script 'edited to avoid offence' – Telegraph.
The New Puritans have won. Jonathan Ross is not funny any more. Though I was in Britain and could have tuned in, I didn't bother to watch his Friday night show which (apart from the talentless performances of his tuneless "house band") I have always enjoyed.
When he is performing now, you can smell his fear. It's pathetic and degrading for him to carry on under such conditions. He is losing respect day by day, as he humiliates himself for mere money. I don't defend the behaviour that got him into this mess. Nor does he, in fairness. He has sincerely apologised and done the prescribed punishment, but I see no sign that the joyless "righteous" will ever let him be.
He should have the dignity to quit and retire in comfort somewhere. I just hope, before he does so, that he finds the courage to tell the prigs of Left and Right just where to shove their permanent, synthetic "offence".
