THE LAST DITCH

Link: NHS may deny care to woman over Avastin – Telegraph.

MedicalOur Government does not believe in the death penalty for murder or even treason. However, it is ready to sentence a woman to death if she pays for a drug which the National Health Service cannot afford. Her crime, according to a spokesman from the Department of Health is:

"direct contravention with (sic) the principles and values of the NHS"

You could not make this stuff up.

They claim they don’t want to create a two-tier NHS. But we’ve already got one! MORE than one even. Free prescriptions for all in Wales. Anti-Cancer drugs only available to Scots in Scotland. And now we are being told that if you are English and paying for Cancer drugs available elesewhere (Scotland perhaps?) then you will lose ALL your entitlement to NHS care!

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
