THE LAST DITCH

Link: BBC NEWS | Education | School shock at vandal web video.

Wouldn’t you just know that the spokesman of a teaching union would be more shocked by the use of the internet to publish a video of vandalism, than by the vandalism itself? Anyone would think YouTube committed the crime, or that such things never happened before the internet.

As it is, the cretinous behaviour of the young thug in question has provided all the necessary evidence to convict him, if the police have the will to do it. Canada has an extradition treaty with the UK, I believe. If he were a middle-class male vandalising a speed camera, I have no doubt justice would be done.

For a more profound insight into modern British education, try this link (beware bad language). It’s a new blog from an ex-teacher and his first post is a corker.

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
