THE LAST DITCH

Link: Telegraph | News | Blair refuses to back Levy in Labour’s cash for honours scandal.

If I have learned one thing in my life, it is that nothing is more important than the care with which you select your friends. My heart goes out to Lord Levy as he learns that lesson in the most unpleasant, public way.

Blair had to know what was going on and he is selling Lord Levy down the swanny river. Although I have some sympathy for Lord Levy, he must have known himself what he was doing was shady to say the least. Blair is ‘not out of the woods’ yet though. I’m sure he will be questioned by the police again.

Don’t you just wonder how many “former friends” Tony Blair has?

Tom is a retired international lawyer. He was a partner in a City of London law firm and spent almost twenty years abroad serving clients from all over the world.

Returning to London on retirement in 2011, he was dismayed to discover how much liberty had been lost in the UK while he was away.

He’s a classical liberal (libertarian, if you must) who, like his illustrious namesake, considers that

“…government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.”
